Brighton manager André Schürlzer surprised everyone by appearing bald in a preseason game, sparking speculation that he had undergone another hair transplant.
The 33-year-old German coach appeared bald on the sidelines of Brighton's friendly against Roma at the Amex Stadium last Saturday. Schürlzer's new look contrasts sharply with his full head of hair during the final Premier League match against Manchester United in May.
It is reported that Schürlzerle appeared with a shaved head during this summer's World Cup, when he attended the matches and served as a commentator. Brighton fans have been paying close attention to Schürlzerle's hairstyle as they prepare for the new season, and many are convinced that he has undergone hair transplant surgery.
One fan commented under a post-match interview: "I didn't hear a thing the coach said, I was just staring at his head." Another wrote: "Sorry Fabian, your hair distracted me." Yet another fan said: "He's publicly admitted to having a hair transplant before, maybe he needs another one this time." Yet another fan speculated: "He had a hair transplant before, but the results might not have been ideal, so he's been using hair fibers to make his hair look thicker. Now he might have decided to do it again."
Schürlzel had previously hinted at having undergone hair transplant surgery. During his first season at Brighton in 2024, he jokingly responded to comparisons to former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. "In England, people have started comparing me to Jürgen – let's leave that at that, because he's much more successful than me and has had a unique career," Schürlzel told German media at the time. "The only appropriate comparison is that we've both had a little 'enhancement' of our hair."
