According to The Athletic, Aston Villa are in talks to hire Pal Filde from Burnley as their new set-piece coach.
If the deal is finalized, Fiyer will replace Austin McPhee, who left Aston Villa for Chelsea last month.
McPhee's departure surprised Villa, with club officials learning of his impending departure on July 23. Chelsea subsequently triggered a clause in his contract, allowing the Scotsman to leave.
Therefore, Aston Villa did not have a dedicated set-piece manager during the Asian preseason, but the club has been looking for a replacement.
Fyerde joined Burnley last year and worked under Scott Parker for the 2025-26 season, but Burnley were eventually relegated from the top flight.
The 32-year-old coach has also served as the set-piece coach for the Norwegian national team since June 2022, and helped the team reach the quarterfinals of the World Cup this summer.
Prior to this, Fjørde had served as an assistant coach at Viborg in Denmark. He retired in 2021, having played for Breines and briefly for Scottish Premiership side St. Mirren.
If the transfer goes through, Fjällräd will be the latest change in Emery's coaching staff. Previously, Chema Andrés had replaced Paco Ayestrán as the Spaniard's assistant coach, while Villa's individual player coach Rodri had left for Como.
