Tottenham Hotspur have reported that Bassoon noted the team's positive response to adversity during Saturday's preseason match against Getafe.

The former Tottenham player, as a member of the SPURSPLAY team, provided live analysis for the friendly match against the La Liga team at Tottenham's training ground.
Basson was a member of the team that first helped Tottenham qualify for the Champions League in 2010 and also represented Cameroon twice in the World Cup. He spoke with Robertson after the 1-1 draw, and Tottenham took control of the game after Gallagher equalized, a match that had been somewhat tense.
The focus of this conversation was mindset, and the content is as follows...
Bassun: After conceding the goal, the team responded. Technically, I knew you were better. What I wanted to see was a response. You did respond, you looked more decisive, and that's how you equalized. How did you feel about that on the pitch?
Robertson: "That's something we need to continue to improve on. Ultimately, if you wear a Tottenham shirt, you have the skill and ability. We don't lack those in our squad. We have to continue to strengthen our mentality. We've shown that in the last two games – against Chelsea, even with a man down, we still managed to win."
We need to instill this in the preseason, you'll see. We've been doing this, trying to build a winning mentality, even in training. Of course, it's also related to fitness, we all know that. Our form will gradually return, and our touch will come back. I think we played some good combinations.
Like you said, we probably played better in the last 10 or 15 minutes. I think we have to prepare for next week. Obviously, we'll be playing in front of the fans on Saturday (against Hoffenheim at 3 pm). Then, the real show begins.”
Bassong: Speaking of mentality – with your experience, do you also want to bring that kind of thing to this team and this club?
Robertson: "I hope so. Obviously, mentality is very important in football. Since I came to this club, my teammates have been very determined and have a strong mentality. I think they have to stick together, especially after the new coach took over at the end of last season. I think they brought that attitude into the summer and hopefully won't take the club back to that position."
The new players also need to help in this regard. Hopefully, I can be a significant part of it, bringing a winning mentality here and motivating my teammates to keep going. Hopefully, we can do that and have a great season.
