According to Spanish media outlet Informacion.es , England was embroiled in a bomb scare ahead of their World Cup semi-final match against Argentina.
A leaked security report seen by Informacion.es revealed multiple terrorist attacks, including a threat against the England team bus.
This scare occurred before Harry Kane and others lost 1-2 to Argentina in Atlanta on July 15, Spanish media reported.
Documents show that a police dog handler marked a positive test for explosives in an area of the England team bus after someone claimed there was a bomb on the bus.
However, it was later confirmed that the bomb scare was just a false alarm, caused by a mechanical malfunction involving an oil leak.
Referring to the most worrying threat during the World Cup, they said: "The most serious one occurred when someone claimed there was a bomb on the bus transporting the England team to their semi-final match against Argentina."
"A K9 detective marked an area on the bus as positive for explosives. Another four-legged detective subsequently corrected the result. According to the report, it was just a false alarm caused by an oil leak."
According to Informacion.es, US President Donald Trump has also been a target of threats on multiple occasions.
One of these incidents occurred on June 22, when someone posted an AI-generated video showing a person who looks like Trump wearing an Israeli jersey playing against the Lebanese national team on a football field.
The video also showed drones dropping explosives on the players. A man resembling Trump died in the attack, and the footage then switched to a young man wearing a Palestinian scarf.
Last week, the FBI and the IPCC, the multi-agency command center that coordinates global law enforcement efforts during the World Cup, provided more details on how they resolved security challenges.
The document also revealed that Messi was the target of a shocking terrorist plot.
According to a police document, an extremist had vowed to kill the Argentine star with a suicide vest during the match.
Before Argentina's match against Egypt, he wrote on social media: "I'm going to walk into the Atlanta Stadium and strap four bombs to my body and blow Messi up."
Meanwhile, another man allegedly made a phone call to Dallas airport shortly before Argentina's group stage match against Jordan.
He reportedly claimed that he and two accomplices were heading to the city stadium with "homemade bombs and an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle".
These two threats prompted an extensive search of the stadium by explosives experts and sniffer dogs.
In addition, Cristiano Ronaldo was also listed as one of the suspected targets of the World Cup attack scare.
A FIFA employee raised the alarm after a "suspicious man" inquired about "details" of the Portuguese star's accommodations during the World Cup.
