According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, Manchester United and Liverpool have both joined the race to sign Monaco midfielder Ramin Camara, while Crystal Palace are also interested in the Senegalese international.
After spending over £80 million on new signings this summer, Manchester United's transfer activity is far from over. With the new season approaching, the final squad composition remains uncertain, with Marcus Rashford's future and midfield reinforcements being particularly noteworthy.
Manchester United, currently led by Carrick, are preparing for the final stages of pre-season, and the squad is gradually becoming more complete. In Saturday's pre-season friendly, United drew with Paris Saint-Germain, with Mount and Heaton both sustaining injuries, but it appears neither is seriously injured.
Manchester United's new season opener against Hull City away is less than two weeks away. This summer, United's two most important signings have both focused on midfield, with Tielemans and Andre Santos joining for hefty transfer fees. However, with Casemiro's departure and Ugarte's injury, United cannot rule out further strengthening their midfield.
Meanwhile, Rashford's future remains uncertain.
Kamara, 22, currently plays for Monaco, previously played for Metz, and came through Senegal's renowned youth academy. Monaco have reportedly set a price tag of £43 million for him, and there have also been previous reports that Chelsea are interested in the midfielder.
Kamara has become an important member of the Senegalese national team and participated in the 2026 World Cup. He played in all four of the team's matches, helping Senegal advance from the group stage, but the team ultimately lost to Belgium in the first round of the knockout stage.
If Manchester United ultimately decide to formally proceed with the deal, they may face competition from Liverpool and other Premier League teams.
Compared to further signings, Rashford's future is also one of the most pressing issues for Manchester United.
After his loan spell, Rashford has returned to Manchester United's training camp and rejoined the team for pre-season preparations alongside Menou and Lisandro Martinez. According to the Manchester Evening News, it seems the most likely outcome for Rashford in the new season is to remain at Manchester United and rejoin the squad.
Of course, this doesn't mean his future is completely set. Rashford could still leave if a club makes a suitable offer.
Previously, Barcelona had a £26 million option to buy Rashford, but ultimately did not exercise that clause. No other clubs have yet made an offer reaching that amount. However, Manchester United might still consider letting the academy striker go if a bid close to £26 million comes in the future.
With pre-season preparations entering their final stages, Manchester United need to continue assessing their current squad while also deciding whether to make further moves in the transfer market. For Rashford, staying is becoming an increasingly realistic option; and if United ultimately decide to strengthen their midfield, Kamara is likely to become a key target in the upcoming transfer window.
