According to Tuttomercato, citing Italian national sports channel, Juventus plans to make initial inquiries about Unai Simón's transfer in the coming hours. The Spanish goalkeeper is currently valued at approximately €25 million.
Throughout the summer transfer window, signing a new goalkeeper has been one of Juventus' key tasks. The performances of their current first-choice goalkeeper, Di Gregorio, in preseason have not completely dispelled doubts, prompting Juventus to accelerate their search for a new goalkeeper.
If Juventus can ultimately sign Unai Simón, it will undoubtedly be a significant acquisition this summer. As Athletic Bilbao's starting goalkeeper, he previously represented Spain at the 2026 World Cup, helping the team win the title. Throughout the tournament, Simón conceded only one goal and ultimately won the Golden Glove award.
Currently, Unai Simon is just one of many candidates Juventus are considering. The Bianconeri had previously also reported on Aya Suzuki, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Vicario, and Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Artubolo, among others; however, Suzuki has now confirmed her move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Compared to other targets, Unai Simón's transfer is clearly more difficult. The goalkeeper came through Athletic Bilbao's youth academy and has played for the club ever since. More importantly, his recent contract extension did not include a release clause, meaning Juventus will need to negotiate directly with Athletic Bilbao if they want to bring him away from San Mamés.
Therefore, even with Juventus's active transfer activity this summer, attempting to sign Unai Simon remains a rather bold plan.
