According to Diario Sport, 30-year-old Rodri Hernandez is at a crucial moment in his career. The Spanish midfielder just won the World Cup with Spain in the final against Argentina.

With the new season about to begin, he has once again been linked with Barcelona this summer. Rodri has also shown a more approachable and down-to-earth side.
After leaving the high-pressure environment of top football, Rodri maintains simple habits and enjoys the little moments in life.

He maintains this attitude at the dinner table, eating a balanced diet without being overly demanding. "I'm not that picky about food; I'm more open to it," Rodri told GQ Spain. He emphasized his natural approach to food, valuing both professional management and the opportunity to enjoy life.
While Spanish cuisine plays an important role in his life, such as potato omelets and paella, Rodri prefers Japanese food. "Sushi is my favorite food," he says. He adds, "I didn't pay much attention to it when I was a child. I think I ate it once, but I didn't like it at all. It wasn't until I grew up that I realized how amazing truly high-quality sushi is."

As time went on, he grew to appreciate sushi more and more, and now considers it a true indulgence: he doesn't eat it often, but if he wants to treat himself, he'll go to a specialty restaurant. Of all the options, nigiri sushi is his favorite.
The team leader also explained his preferred way of eating sushi, revealing some more casual details. He admitted that wasabi can sometimes be "dangerous," and that he has accidentally added too much himself. However, he usually only adds a little to the soy sauce, more because "everyone says so" than because of the taste itself, hoping to find a balance that aligns with his own dietary philosophy.
Unlike athletes who strictly adhere to diets, Rodri prefers a more natural approach to eating.
He doesn't engage in extreme fasting or impose strict restrictions, but rather emphasizes common sense: taking care of one's body, not turning eating into a continuous burden, while also allowing oneself to enjoy the foods one likes. For him, the key is to maintain good habits without going to extremes.
