According to Mundo Deportivo, with just over two weeks until the transfer window closes, Barcelona held a briefing with Koundé's agent.
The French defender resumed training yesterday after returning from his World Cup vacation. Upon concluding his World Cup campaign, Koundé stated that his goal was to "do everything he could to help Barcelona." Even before the World Cup, he had said he wanted to continue wearing the Blaugrana jersey. Nevertheless, Barcelona knows that more than one team is monitoring the Frenchman's situation. In recent weeks, reports have surfaced that Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, and Manchester City are all interested in him.
Currently, all possibilities remain. Mundo Deportivo previously reported that Barcelona believes Koundé can also play center-back, his original position. This idea first surfaced at Barcelona's training ground in July, and has gained more traction after Ronald Araujo's departure to Liverpool and Xavi's significant playing time for him in preseason. Furthermore, Eric Garcia has already proven his ability to adapt to the wing.
Koundé signed a contract extension with Barcelona last summer, running until 2030. He had a stellar season, scoring the winning goal in the Copa del Rey final to help his team defeat Real Madrid. Barcelona were aware of interest from clubs like Manchester City last year, but ultimately decided to extend his contract.
