According to Mundo Deportivo, Atletico Madrid president Cerezo, during Grimaldo's unveiling ceremony, seemed to be alluding to Alvarez by mentioning Grimaldo's desire to play at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Cerezo said: "Many players dream of playing for Atlético Madrid, but not many are truly willing to do this much to join us. He even shortened his vacation, which is highly valued by the club and the fans."
Cerezo also said: "We know that many teams want him. He will be playing in Spain for the first time. Grimaldo developed in the youth systems of Valencia and Barcelona before joining Benfica and then Bayer Leverkusen. He won nine titles in Portugal and three more in Germany. Hopefully, we can continue to win more titles together."
Cerezo continued, "On behalf of all Atletico Madrid fans, I welcome you. We know you are full of fighting spirit, have excellent footwork, are ambitious, and also have courage and passion. We know you will give your best performance."

World Champion
Cerezo also emphasized Spain's World Cup victory on July 19th. He said, "It's not every day that we welcome a world champion. That's the case with 30-year-old Alejo Grimaldo. Atletico Madrid has sent the most players to the final for the third consecutive World Cup. I want to congratulate all the players who made it to the final. He's a Spanish international, and besides the World Cup, he's also won the European Championship." Cerezo concluded.
