According to Bild, Kwaanza will remain with Bayer Leverkusen next season. Arsenal have been actively pursuing the defender, but Leverkusen have no intention of letting him leave after just one season.
Last summer, Bayer Leverkusen paid Liverpool €35 million to sign the defender. Cua Anza quickly established himself as a regular starter in the defense and even qualified for the World Cup. He made three appearances at the World Cup, helping the Three Lions to a third-place finish. Liverpool also have an €80 million buy-back clause.
After a year at Bayer Leverkusen, his market value rose from €20 million to €45 million, and his growth seems far from over. Cua Anza's contract with Leverkusen will run until the summer of 2030.
Arsenal have a good track record of signing Bayer Leverkusen defenders in the past. Last summer, the club signed Ecuadorian striker Incapie (24 years old) from the Rhine. The former Leverkusen player helped Arsenal win their first league title since 2004 this summer and reach the Champions League final.
