According to Sky Sports, Newcastle United have reached an agreement with Benfica to sign defender Amar Dedic.
Sky Sports News understands the right-back deal is worth £29.5 million. The 23-year-old is expected to fly to Newcastle before undergoing a medical on Monday.
There are still some formalities to be completed in the deal, but there is confidence that Dedic will become a Newcastle player before the Premier League opener against Liverpool next Sunday, a match that will be broadcast live by Sky Sports.
Dedic is expected to make his debut at St. James' Park immediately, while Livramento is still recovering from a calf injury he suffered while playing for England in international matches in June.
Dedic previously worked with Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissler at Red Bull Salzburg, where he helped the team retain the Austrian Bundesliga title in 2023.
Newcastle have been looking to strengthen their right-back position since Trippier joined Wolves on a free transfer this summer.
This Bosnian international has made 31 appearances for the national team and started in 3 out of 4 World Cup matches.
Newcastle are also in talks with Bayern Munich to permanently sign João Palinha.
After failing to secure Højbjerg last week and Aston Villa's loan offer for Palinha falling through, the club is looking to strengthen its midfield.
Bayern Munich will likely loan out the midfielder, which is why sporting director Max Eberl stated yesterday that the club will not reach a deal with Aston Villa.
Palinha is now reassessing his options, which could include staying at Bayern Munich or returning to Portugal, with Sporting Lisbon and Benfica both interested in him.
However, the midfielder seems to prefer staying in the Premier League if given the opportunity.
