Multiple Italian sources say that Inter Milan plans to begin a new round of negotiations this week regarding Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, who did not travel with the team for Sunday's friendly against Como.
The Italian sports newspapers Corriere dello Sport, Tuttosport, and Mediaset have all confirmed that Jones is eager to join Inter Milan, but the Nerazzurri are unwilling to meet Liverpool's €40 million asking price, mainly because Jones has less than a year left on his contract with Liverpool.
Jones did not participate in Liverpool's two friendly matches against Como on Sunday, with the official reason given being a hip discomfort.
However, Mediaset Sports pointed out that Liverpool's team doctor's explanation was a "white lie," and the real reason for the 25-year-old midfielder's absence was that he hoped to join Inter Milan in the 2026-27 season to reunite with teammates Stones and Spence.
According to the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan are preparing to offer €30 million for the transfer, plus add-ons, a strategy mirroring their previous signing of Spence from Tottenham.
After the World Cup, Tottenham Hotspur set a transfer fee of nearly €50 million for the England wing-back, but the North London club lowered its asking price in August, allowing Inter Milan to sign the former Genoa player on their terms.
