According to L'Equipe, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who has faced continuous criticism in recent weeks, has suffered another blow when Sándor Chany, one of the eight vice presidents of the FIFA Council and president of the Hungarian Football Association, withdrew his support. Previously, the Swiss Football Association's proposal to sell World Cup shares to private investors, although quickly halted, was one of the main reasons for Chany's change of stance.
In a letter, Chani explained his decision. He stated that "the trust he had previously placed in the incumbent candidate had vanished," and noted that "Kevin Lamour's unexpected dismissal was the final straw."
As FIFA's third-ranking official, Lamour was dismissed this Monday. Just two weeks prior, he had publicly expressed his opposition to Infantino and his proposed solutions.
With only one year left until the FIFA presidential election, Gianni Infantino is facing increasing pressure, and his support within FIFA is further affected.
