According to talkSPORT, Andy Brasser said that Mbaye is very practical and a better fit for Liverpool than Barkola.
He believes that if Barkola cannot be signed, his teammate Ibrahim Mbaye would be a very practical option.
talkSPORT understands that the French international hopes to move to Anfield this summer. However, Liverpool are unwilling to match Paris Saint-Germain's asking price. Despite PSG having already signed several new strikers, they are still asking for around £130 million for Barkola.
According to reports, Mbaye has also agreed personal terms with Liverpool and may be transferred in a package deal with Barkola.
Even if the deal falls through, Blasser believes Mbaye is a better fit for Liverpool than Barkola.
In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT's lead writer Joe Brophy, Blasser praised Mbaye.
He said: "I think he is a very talented young player who needs to leave the team to get playing time. He doesn't get those opportunities in Paris."
When asked if a transfer to Liverpool would be reasonable, he replied, "It's possible. But obviously, if we say it's a direct replacement for Salah, firstly, that's unrealistic; secondly, it would put enormous pressure on the player."
"Given that Liverpool need a right winger, I think they need a right winger more than they need Barkola."
