FIFA disciplinary decision document
Following a comprehensive review of the relevant cases, FIFA's Disciplinary Committee has imposed the following penalties for incidents that occurred in various matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup:
The Argentine Football Association has been fined a total of US$321,000 for violating Articles 13(2)(c) (using sporting events for non-sporting demonstrations), 14(5) (team misconduct), 15 (discrimination and racist insults involving discriminatory slogans and gestures by supporters), and 17 (match order and security) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
Furthermore, given its violation of Article 15 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the Argentine Football Association has been ordered to limit the number of spectators to 50% for its next two home matches.
FIFA's Disciplinary Committee also ruled that:
Of the $321,000 fine, $100,000 must be used to implement an anti-discrimination program; some penalties are suspended, including one of the two home games and the $100,000 fine, with a corresponding probationary period.
Furthermore, following the submission of a report by the designated disciplinary and ethics prosecutor regarding the events that occurred on July 19 at the New Jersey Arena in New York during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final match between Spain and Argentina, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee imposed the following penalties:
Paredes (player): Suspended for ten games and fined $90,000.
Molina (player): Suspended for seven games and fined $90,000.
Thiago Almada (player): Suspended for one match and fined $30,000.
Ayala (team official): A three-game suspension and a $30,000 fine.
Gavi (player): One-match suspension and a $30,000 fine.
According to Article 69, Paragraph 2a and Paragraph 3 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the aforementioned suspension will be carried over to the next match of the relevant national team.
All relevant parties have received notification of the terms of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee's decision today. According to the relevant provisions of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, each party may apply for the full, reasoned decision within ten days; if an application is made, the decision will subsequently be published. According to Article 61 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the above decision is still subject to appeal.
