According to Footmercato, Jeremy Doku had a tough summer at the 2026 World Cup. The 24-year-old winger missed several matches due to a respiratory illness contracted early in the tournament. Even when he did play, he was clearly not placed in his best position. The Manchester City player has complained about Rudi Garcia's positioning of him on the field.

“When I look back at the game against Egypt and many other games, I find that I wasn’t always in the best playing condition. Besides injuries, I was sometimes placed on the right wing, and even as a center forward against Egypt. I don’t think these arrangements were the best options, and I wasn’t in the position that suited me best.”
"Especially since everyone knows I perform best on the left wing. Don't start speculating. All these factors sometimes bother me and don't help me," Doku continued. "But ultimately, we reached the quarterfinals in this World Cup. From the team's perspective, that's already a success," he told PlaySports.
