Alvarez has once again found himself in an awkward position amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding his potential departure from the club.
Despite this, Alvarez continued playing normally and showed no signs of resistance, a point emphasized by Jota Jordi. The guest on the "El Chiringuito" program had previously made his stance clear on social media, again criticizing Atlético Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Hill Marin, believing the latter was responsible for the striker's current predicament.
“Julian won’t rebel, he won’t do that. He’s a good kid. If he’s called up, he’ll go; if he’s put on the field, he’ll play. The performance we saw from Julian today will continue until he wears this jersey for his last game,” Jota Jordi wrote, making it clear that he doesn’t believe the Argentine’s attitude will change.
The guest on the show also focused on the situation between Atlético Madrid and the players. In his view, the boos and escalating atmosphere at the Metropolitan Stadium could ultimately hurt all parties involved: "A player is being insulted, performing poorly, arguing with fans at every home game, his teammates are feeling uncomfortable, and he's still getting a high salary... because you know, as many of us know, you made promises to him. You yourselves asked him to publicly express his desire to leave."
On the program "El Chiringuito," Jota Jordi and Darmian engaged in a heated exchange regarding the striker's situation and Gil Marin's alleged promise. Jota Jordi took a firm stance, stating that he knew the location of a conversation between the Atlético Madrid president and Julian Alvarez, and who was present: "The Amazon restaurant, that's where it happened. There were two people there, Gil Marin and Julian Alvarez, and he made that promise to Julian."
The guest on the show explained that during that meeting, the two sides "ultimately reached an agreement on some conditions," one of which might have been that Julian publicly stated during the World Cup that he wanted to leave Atletico Madrid. He revealed that this requirement was likely put forward by the club: "I'm telling you, I'll show you the evidence. I'll explain to you starting from the 2nd, and I'll show you the evidence."
However, Darmian offered a different account. He stated that, according to his information, Julian, Miguel Ángel Gil, and individuals close to the player had held multiple meetings. According to him, Julian was told to wait until after the World Cup, and if he wanted to leave and Atlético Madrid received a satisfactory offer, the two sides would discuss the specifics: "If you want to leave, and Atlético Madrid receives a satisfactory offer, then we'll see what happens."
Following these remarks, Jota-Jordi immediately responded: "Wait, the whole story has changed, the whole story has just changed. The same rhetoric you've been using for the past three months has changed. You've essentially proven me right: 'We'll help you.'"
