Spain's national team coach Luis de la Fuente recently gave an interview to Spanish national radio, discussing topics related to Spain's World Cup victory this summer.
When asked about the boos from some spectators at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao when Laporte, Nico Williams, and Unai Simon presented the World Cup trophy to fans, De la Fuente said, "I regret the boos at San Mamés Stadium."
De la Fuente stated that he had played for and lived in Athletic Bilbao for 18 years, thus having a special affection for the city. He believed that the boos from the crowd showed no respect for the Spanish national team's World Cup victory, nor for the players who helped the team achieve this. He particularly noted that many players in the national team come from the Basque region and developed at Athletic Bilbao's Lezama youth academy.
In addition, de la Fuente also discussed the serious immigration situation currently facing Ceuta. When asked about this sensitive topic, he said, "The residents of Ceuta are the first to need to return to normal life; their daily lives have been disrupted in one way or another."
Regarding Spain's bid to host the 2030 World Cup final, De la Fuente also expressed his opinion. He stated, "As the host country, Spain has many advantages, and I support holding the final in our own country."
